It’s National Gas Safety Week #GSW17 and here’s seven safety tips to keep your home safe:

Unsafe gas appliances can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, gas leaks, fires and explosions !

  1. Have your gas appliances and boiler serviced every year
  2. If you rent your home ask for a copy of the landlord’s gas safety certificate
  3. Check the six signs of carbon monoxide poisoning
    1. Headaches
    2. Dizziness
    3. Breathlessness
    4. Nausea
    5. Collapse
    6. Loss of consciousness
  4. Check the three warning signs that gas appliances are not working properly:
    1. Yellow flames instead of blue ones
    2. Black marks or stains on or around appliances
    3. Too much condensation in the room
  5. Have an audio carbon monoxide alarm fitted
  6. Only use a gas safe registered engineer to fit, fix and service your appliances
  7. Check your engineer’s Gas Safe ID card
