From First Enquiry to Final Handover
From choosing the charge point to using it for the first time, we set out what happens at each stage. You’ll see what we need from you, what we arrange, and what records or follow-up may be needed.
1. Tell us about the property
Start by telling us where the car is parked, where the consumer unit sits and how far the cable may need to run. Photos can help us understand access before the survey.
2. We assess the installation
At the survey, we inspect the consumer unit, earthing, available capacity and the proposed charger position. Older wiring or a detached garage may mean we recommend electrical work before installation.
3. You receive a clear quotation
We set out the charger, cable route, protective equipment and any consumer unit changes in writing. You can approve the full cost before work starts, with no surprise charges added later.
4. We prepare the cable route
Your preferred parking position may need surface protection, wall penetrations or a longer route around the property. We agree the practical route with you and explain any visible trunking or external cablework.
5. We install and test the charge point
Our NICEIC-registered electricians install the dedicated circuit and charge point, then test the protective devices, earthing and charger operation. We work tidily and leave the area ready for use.
6. We complete the paperwork and handover
You receive the electrical certification and records for the installation. We show you how to start and stop a charge, use the charger controls and understand any connected app.
7. We explain any follow-up work
If the survey identifies wider electrical work or a limitation in the existing supply, we explain what it affects and why. You can then decide whether to complete that work alongside the charge point.

How much access do installers need inside my home?
Before installation, we need access to the consumer unit, proposed charger position and cable route. Please clear those areas and ensure parking remains available for testing on installation day itself.
What happens if the survey finds an electrical problem?
If the survey identifies an overloaded circuit, outdated consumer unit or poor cable route, we explain the risk and recommend necessary remedial work before connecting the charge point.
How long does home EV charger installation take?
After assessing the cable route and consumer unit, we confirm the duration. A straightforward installation is completed in one visit; longer routes or extra electrical work take longer to complete.
What paperwork will I receive after EV charger installation?
After installation, we provide charge point details, test results and relevant electrical documentation. We explain the controls before handover, leaving you with records for servicing, property files or insurance queries.
Can an EV charger be installed when my car parks away from the house?
A detached garage, long drive or separate parking bay can still work. We measure the electrical run and specify protected cabling or underground ducting where needed to protect it outdoors.
