The installation date covers more than fixing collectors in place. Before work starts, we confirm how the pool circulates water, where the pump and filter are located, and how the heated water will return to the pool. This lets us identify any work needed around the existing plant rather than discovering it halfway through installation.
Your pool may already have suitable circulation equipment, but the solar heater still needs the correct controls. We normally allow for a bypass arrangement so the pool can run without the collectors when heating is not needed. A temperature controller can then direct water through the collectors when they can add useful heat.
On installation day, we normally:
- secure the solar collectors and check their position;
- connect the flow and return pipework;
- fit valves, controls and insulation where required;
- connect the system to the pool circulation equipment;
- fill and check the pipework for leaks;
- run the system and confirm that the controls operate correctly.
The roof structure and access affect the time needed on site. A low roof with clear access is generally simpler than a steep or difficult-to-reach roof. If lifting equipment, additional safety measures or a longer route for the pipework is needed, we explain that before the quotation is agreed.
The distance between the collectors and the pool plant also matters. A short, accessible route keeps the installation simpler. A longer route may involve more pipework, insulation, support brackets and penetrations through walls or roof spaces. We plan these details so the finished pipework is protected and kept as unobtrusive as practical.
Weather can affect outdoor work, particularly when roof access is involved. Wet, icy or windy conditions may make it unsafe to work at height. If conditions prevent the installation from going ahead, we will explain what needs to happen next rather than proceed with avoidable risk.
Preparation can shorten the time spent on site. Please make sure we can reach the pool plant, pump, filter and any existing valves. We may also need access to the roof or the space where the pipework will run. Moving stored items before the installation helps us work without unnecessary disruption.
Most of the work takes place around the plant equipment and the collector location, rather than inside the main part of the house. We protect the areas where we work, keep pipe runs as tidy as the building allows and test the system before leaving.
The final commissioning checks include circulation, valve operation, temperature control and leak testing. Your quotation sets out any work outside the standard installation, so the expected timescale is clear before work begins.
