To calculate your commercial solar panel cost, we need your electricity usage, recent bills, site address, roof or ground-mount details, and any plans for battery storage or future expansion. We then assess the available installation area, shading, roof condition and electrical capacity before pricing the panels, mounting system, labour, connection work and paperwork.
The most useful information is not just the roof area. We need to understand how the building uses electricity, what the business wants the system to achieve and what constraints may affect the design. That lets us size the installation sensibly rather than price a system that produces more electricity than the site can use.
Half-hourly electricity data
A recent annual bill shows total consumption, but half-hourly data shows when the business uses electricity. This matters because solar generation is highest during the day, while many commercial premises have different demand patterns.
A warehouse may use most of its electricity during working hours. A pub, office or agricultural building may have different peaks. We compare the demand profile with the expected generation so the quotation reflects the electricity the business can use directly, as well as any planned export.

A system designed around today’s consumption may not be the right choice if major loads are being added soon.
We also need to know if the building is occupied throughout the week, used seasonally or divided between several tenants. Shared supplies and tenant billing can affect how the system is designed and how its benefits are allocated.
The electrical supply and connection arrangement

If a grant, loan, lease arrangement or other funding is being considered, include the scheme name and any conditions you have been given. Funding rules and tax treatment can change, so we separate confirmed costs from items that need checking before the quotation is finalised.
Information about ownership and permissions
If the business rents the premises, we need to know who owns the building and who can approve work to the roof and electrical installation. A landlord, managing agent, freeholder or lender may need to review the proposal.
Tell us about any lease restrictions, roof warranties, insurance requirements or planned refurbishment. If the building is listed or sits within a protected area, planning requirements may affect the design, programme or cost. We can allow for the relevant process once we know which permissions apply.
Operational requirements during installation
Commercial work often has to fit around deliveries, customers, staff and production. We need to know about restricted access, loading areas, security procedures, induction requirements and any parts of the site that cannot be isolated.
Details of roof access, lifting restrictions and the building’s working arrangements help us plan labour and equipment accurately.
