Compare the warranty length, what it covers, any minimum performance guarantee, exclusions and who handles a claim. Check that the terms remain valid for your installation, electricity use and battery settings, rather than choosing on the headline number of years alone.

The best solar battery warranty is not necessarily the one with the longest term. Compare the capacity it promises, the conditions attached to that promise, and what happens if the battery needs repair or replacement. A shorter warranty with clear, useful cover may be more valuable than a longer warranty with difficult thresholds.

Start by separating the different warranties. A battery installation can involve several types of cover:

  • Product warranty: covers faults in the battery and its internal components.
  • Workmanship cover: relates to how the system was installed, including wiring, connections and mounting.
  • Performance warranty: sets out how much energy the battery should still be able to store over time.
  • Warranty for associated equipment: the inverter, gateway, monitoring device and other controls may have separate terms.
